
State of Quantum Computing: Building a Quantum Economy
Quantum computing is developing rapidly, with government and business investment reaching $35.5 billion globally, but the technology has not reached maturity yet.
Quantum computing has reached an inflection point. This still immature technology has recently been the subject of year-on-year exponential increases in venture capital funding, new service offerings by most technology majors, huge public initiatives and important investments by Fortune 500 companies across industries. Though general-purpose quantum computing remains unproven, it is in society’s interest to see the bets being made today succeed on aggregate and for the technology to live up to its promise of transformative impact. The Global Future Council on Quantum Computing will act as an advisory committee to the Quantum Computing Network which will accelerate the realization of opportunities associated with quantum computing and drive collaboration on addressing the concurrent set of emerging risks and security challenges. The council will drive or participate in specific activities at the network level, support the development of quantum seminar series and create public-facing media content.
