Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is the exclusive provider of electricity and water services in Dubai. Formed in 1992 and ranked as one of the best utilities in the world, DEWA has launched three smart initiatives to support the Smart Dubai initiative to make Dubai the smartest city in the world: Shams Dubai, to encourage building owners to install solar panels to generate electricity; EV Green Chargers, infrastructure and electric vehicle charging stations; and Smart Applications, via smart grids and metres.
