Shin Sung-Hwan

Upon completing the three year term responsibilities as the president of Korea Institute of Finance (KIF) which is a leading think tank in Korea focusing on financial policies, Dr. Shin returned to academia as a professor of finance at Hongik University in Seoul in March, 2018. From 1998 to 2001, Dr. Shin worked for the World Bank Group as a senior financial officer in its finance complex. In addition to his primary occupations, Dr. Shin was the president of Korea Pension Association and participated in several committees in Korean National Pension Service. He was also a steering committee member of Korea Investment Corporation. Dr. Shin chaired the public fund evaluation board organized by Ministry of Strategy and Finance, and participated in committees in Financial Services Commission and Financial Supervisory Services of Korea. Dr. Shin is currently a non-executive board member of Hanjin Kal Corporation and Truston Asset Management, and also the president of Korea Money and Finance Association. Dr. Shin received a BA in economics from the Seoul National University in 1985 and a PhD in finance from the Sloan School of Management at MIT in 1993.
