Cisco Systems July 2005 - December 2014 Senior Vice President and General Manager May 2011 – December 2014 Service Provider Networking Group As Senior Vice President and General Manager, led Cisco Systems’ Service Provider Networking Group, which included Cisco’s portfolio of High-End Routing, Access and Optical products. Had P&L responsibility for this Group and was responsible for Hardware, Software, Silicon Development and Product Line Management for these business units. Drove revenue of over $4B, managed a budget in excess of $500M and led a geographically distributed team with significant presence in North America, Europe and Asia. Vice President and General Manager July 2005 – May 2011 Cable Access (CMTS) and Optical Business Unit Joined Cisco to manage the softswitch business, moving to run the cable access and optical businesses. Turned around optical in a significant manner and attained #1 market share in cable access. Promoted to run the service provider routing business. Polaris Networks January 2003 – May 2005 Chief Executive Officer Moved back to the bay area to run this venture backed optical cross connect company at the request of a VC and former board member. Product was late to market and company needed to conserve cash and get to revenue. Succeeded on both counts and got two offers to acquire the company, however, senior debt holder took over operations. Convergent Networks January 2002 – December 2002 Chief Executive Officer Came in as CEO of this softswitch company and focused on cable and alternate carriers. Brought in senior executive and recommended him as CEO in order to return to the Bay Area. Avici Systems June 1997 – May 2005 Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer President & CEO: June 1997 – June 2001 Board Member: June 1997 – May 2005 Joined this start up as first CEO, raised over $100M in funding and delivered the industry’s first Terabit Switch Router (TSR). Team developed silicon, hardware, software, network management system for the service provider market. Accomplishments: Took the company public (IPO) in July 2000 Successfully managed separation from largest investor after they acquired a competitor Large Telco built the industry’s first multi-chassis backbone network with the TSR Previous experience includes Intel Corporation, Ungermann-Bass, Telco Systems and US Robotics. Significant achievements include going from Product Management into Sales as an entry level sales person in the networking industry and achieving President’s Club in the second year.
