Yamil J. Colón is an assistant professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Notre Dame. He was a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Molecular Engineering at Argonne National Laboratory and the University of Chicago under the tutelage of Professor Juan de Pablo. Dr. Colón received his B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University. He is the recipient of numerous awards and fellowships, including a Fulbright scholarship (2009), a National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship (2011-2014), the Distinguished Graduate Researcher Award from Northwestern University (2014), and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Computational Molecular Science and Engineering Forum (CoMSEF) Graduate Student Award (2014). Dr. Colón’s research interests involve the computational design and discovery of materials for energy-related applications, drug delivery, and water purification.
